Basic Information And Uses Of The Antifungal Solution Lamisil

Terbinafine is known widely as an antibiotic component against fungal infections. This is the main ingredient present in the prescription drug lamisil. It works against the fungal infection caused in the regions of the finger and toe nails. In addition there are also lamisil oral granules which are handy in the treatment of scalp hair follicles fungal infection seen in children of four years of age and above. There are many other uses of this prescription drug as well.
Many people confuse viral infections with fungal infections. Lamisil is an antifungal solution and works only against fungal infections and not viral infections. For e.g. a cold cannot be treated using this medicine. Using it in the cream form is most suitable as it does not have any harmful side effects. Notify your doctor before undergoing treatment with the drug if you already taking medicines for any other serious medical condition. The last thing you would want is for different medicines to interfere with one another which can be harmful for your health. The cream is virtually safe in all conditions but consulting with an expert is suitable.
Taking this medication in the right manner is very important and will determine the effect of it on the duration of treatment. Do not skip the medication during the entire time. It has to be taken daily for weeks to get rid of the fungal infection completely. People suffering from toe nail infection will take longer to recover than people suffering from finger nail infection. In case of any irregular symptoms make sure you show it to the doctor. A tablet of lamisil should be taken with a full glass of water. IN case of children, the granules can be taken along with mashed potatoes. Store it at room temperature and do not expose it to heat and moisture.
This drug should not be taken by pregnant women although it is not known to cause any harm to the unborn baby in the womb. Take any missed dose as soon as you remember. If the time for the next dose is near then it is wise to skip the missed dose altogether. Consult the kind of diet you should maintain while taking this prescription drug to avoid any unwanted effects. Take all the necessary precautions and consult with your doctor if you have any problems during the treatment.
