How Effective Is Lamisil Against Fungal Infections?

One of the most widely used antifungal products in cases of fungal infections is lamisil. It constitutes of the drug terbinafine which has antifungal qualities. This is one reason why it ranks so high among topical antifungal solutions. It is used very effectively in the treatment of fungal infections that occur in the nails of the fingers and toes. It is recommended by pharmacists and doctors alike as medical experts see no harm in vouching for its effectiveness due to the results seen so far. It is a popular product since it is cheap and works to the desired manner at the same time.
There are many forms of this antifungal product. It is available in the form of tablet, creams and gels all of which can be used for treatment of various types of fungal infections with great success. Nail fungus or onychomycosis as it is scientifically called can be easily removed using lamisil by taking the medicine regularly. It is effective in treatment of both finger and toe nail. The nail is attacked the fungus from the inside and starts corroding if treatment is not put into place. It uses the nail to protect itself from other topical products which cannot reach the area of infection. But lamisil unlike other topical products does not have any problems and can clear away the fungus rooted deep inside the nail without any difficulty.
In case of taking the tablet version, a routine has to be followed regularly to clear he fungal infection completely and prevent it from coming back. A daily dose of the medicine which is 250 mg has to be taken regularly for a particular period of time depending on whether the infection is on toe nails or finger nails. Toenail fungus takes six weeks of medication while finger nail fungus can be driven away after a daily dose for six weeks.
The medication should not be stopped even if the fungus seems to have gone away. The tablet should be taken for the entire duration or even a tiny remaining part of the fungus can regenerate and infect the area once again. It is not that easy to remove nail fungus unless the course is followed to the last detail. There are no serious side effects to this antifungal agent especially while applying lamisil cream since it is only applied on the skin externally.
